Object of the game

The southern French city of Carcassonne is famous for its unique Roman and Mediaeval fortifications and surrounding farmland. It is this landscape that inspired Klaus-Jurgen Wrede to design and develop a series of clever, yet simple tile laying games that bring new challenges with every turn.

In this edition, winter has arrived in the beautiful Carcassonne region, but it does not seem to affect the spirit of the populace. Players still build the area surrounding this impressive city, one tile at a time, and by placing followers on fields, cities, roads or monasteries. These followers will become knights, monks, farmers or thieves, depending upon where they are placed.

As with Carcassonne, the players lay landscape tiles turn by turn in this instance to create a beautiful snow-clad landscape. As they do so, the mountains, grasslands, seas and ports emerge and grow. On these, the players can deploy their settlers to earn points. Players score points during the game and at the end. The player with the most points after the final scoring is the winner.
